What this covers
Only this website. Our social media accounts, application forms and ticketing pages run on other services, and their own privacy policies apply there.
What we don't collect
The site has no accounts, sign-ups, comment sections or analytics, and it doesn't show ads. We don't set cookies or use your browser's local storage, and we don't track you across pages or other sites.
The contact page doesn't send anything. It opens your own email app with a draft. We only see what you type there if you send that email.
Hosting and server logs
Our host receives basic technical information when your browser requests a page, such as your IP address, browser type and the pages requested. The site is currently hosted by Vercel, which processes these logs to deliver and secure the site under its privacy policy. We don't use these logs to identify visitors.
YouTube videos and thumbnails
Video thumbnails on the site are images loaded from YouTube's image servers (i.ytimg.com), so your browser makes an ordinary request to Google to show them.
The home page plays our latest videos, muted, in the background. Everywhere else, a video only loads when you press play. Either way, videos load from youtube-nocookie.com, YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode, and Google's privacy policy applies to that playback, including any cookies or similar technologies YouTube uses. The same goes for anything you watch on YouTube itself.
Links to other sites
We link to Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, Facebook, Blueprint and other sites. When you follow a link, that site's privacy policy applies.
When you contact us
If you email us, message us on social media, or fill out one of our application or registration forms, we receive whatever you choose to send, such as your name, email address and message. Our club email is a Gmail account, so emails are also handled under Google's privacy policy. Forms will tell you what they collect.
Board members use this information to reply to you, to run applications, events and KonneX, and to keep the club's records. We don't sell it, rent it or share it for marketing. We may share it with the University of Chicago when RSO rules or University policy require it.
We keep messages and application responses only as long as we reasonably need them.
Children
This site is for a general audience and isn't directed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect personal information from them.
Your choices and requests
You can block thumbnails and other third-party content with your browser settings or extensions, and the site will still work.
To ask what information we have from you, or to have it corrected or deleted, email uchicagonexus@gmail.com. University records about UChicago students are covered by University policies, not this one.
Changes
If how the site handles information changes, for example if we add analytics, we'll update this page first and change the date at the top.
