When we film and photograph
Our video crew and members film rehearsals, covers (sometimes in public places), showcases, socials and KonneX, and we post the photos and videos here and on our channels. Audience areas at showcases and KonneX may appear in photos and video.
If you'd rather not be filmed at an event, tell a board member or the event staff and we'll do our best to keep you out of shot.
Members: if you don't want to appear in a particular video, tell the dance's teacher or the Video Crew Director before the shoot.
Asking us to take something down
If you appear in something we've posted and want it removed, cropped or blurred, email us with:
- a link to the post, photo or video;
- what you'd like changed; and
- the best way to reach you.
We review every request and act as quickly as we reasonably can. Requests involving safety, harassment, or people who were minors when the content was made come first. We can only change content on accounts we control, so we can't remove copies other people have made.
Copyright and rights holders
Our covers are non-commercial fan performances, and we respect the rights of artists, labels and choreographers. If you own or represent the rights to something in our content and want it changed or removed, email us with:
- your name, and who you represent;
- the work you're concerned about;
- links to our content; and
- a statement that you're authorized to act for the rights holder.
We'll reply quickly and remove content when the claim is valid. You can also use YouTube's own copyright tools for anything on our channel.
Using our photos and videos
Sharing links, and using YouTube's share and embed buttons, is always fine. For anything else, like reposting, editing, printing, or using our content in press, ads or another group's promo, email us first and tell us how you'd like to use it.
When you do use our content, please credit neXus Dance Collective (and @uchicagonexus on social media).
